About Artifactory

Artifactory is an universal repository manager supporting all major packaging formats, build tools and CI servers.

  • Primary role is to temporarily store and support of a distribution of artifacts as a result of build process - part of CI/CD process basing on source code but the solution is not a source code repository. Artifacts are use by deployment tools in order to deploy applications on their target environments.
  • Secondary role is software composition analysis - SCA tool - XRAY.
  • Tertiary role is to proxy for remote repositories.

Intended use

  • The system is intended to temporarily store and support of a distribution of artifacts as a result of build process.
  • The system is intended as software composition analysis tool.
  • The system is intended as a supportive proxy for remote repositories.
  • The system is accessible only by Roche users - AD account/Roche email is required. The system is a subject to COREMAP data retention rules for temporary, convenience software records.
  • The system is not an archive for artifacts but temporary store in order to support the development process - build process must be able to recreate artifacts whenever necessary.
  • The system is not intended as file sharing platform.
  • The system is not intended as a store for whole system images.

Access management and Incidents are supported via RosePortal. Artifactory accounts are auto-created on the first log in - use your Active Directory credentials.

Soon a GitOps approach is to be in place: Artifactory as code.

Our scope

We offer software artifacts management in multiple instances of jFrog Artifactory.

  • repository[-ng].intranet.roche.com - on-prem instance located in Switzerland. Suitable for on-prem usage, anonymous RO access, heavy artifacts.
  • eu.repository.roche.com - SaaS instance located in Germany. Suitable for cloud usage, more limits apply.
  • na-onprem.repository.roche.com - on-prem instance located in Santa Clara (CA) and Indianapolis (IN). Suitable for on-prem usage for NALA region.

Repositories on all instances can be setup for replication and replications from other tools are possible for you convenience, especially during migrations.

There are also additional instances present in Roche, however not under our direct control.
